With plans to plant a disciple-making church in his hometown, West and Mary Brazelton moved their family from Mammoth Lakes, CA to Houston, TX in the fall of 2002. West began talking with people he knew and developed a core group of friends and family who were excited about church planting. This small group met on Sunday evenings in West and Mary’s home for six months and then began meeting on Sunday mornings for worship services at a movie theater in September of 2003.

Though small in number, the group responsible for starting GBC alongside West was and is committed to making disciples. We believe that disciple making is an intentional and relational process through which a person is equipped and mobilized into God's kingdom work. We believe that Christians experience God most profoundly when they participate in His ministry.
