Since its founding in 2005, Agape Development has been dedicated to the work of transforming Houston’s OST/South Union neighborhood by preparing Christ-following, independent, community leaders. OST/South Union, the 77021 area code, sits just above the most southern section of the IH-610 loop, encompassing the area south of the University of Houston and East of HW-288. Agape Development serves in ways that display agape love–authentic, intentional, and steadfast– by truly being embedded in the neighborhood and by offering programs that address specific needs in the community. At our afterschool program, we work with elementary-aged students to develop community leadership skills and expand reading levels. Through our teen program, we walk with middle and high schoolers in Christian discipleship and vocational skills training. With our young adult programs, we provide an environment of supported independence through residential transitional housing. With our job readiness programs, we equip neighbors with the skills of financial empowerment. With our social enterprise, the Agape Fencing company, we employ neighbors with significant barriers to employment. And, finally, with Agape Homes CDC, we preserve affordability without concentrating poverty through our newly developed single-family homes for sale and through the Haven of OST, a converted motel that offers clean, safe, and affordable studio rentals.
