Athletes in Action

To build spiritual movements in every athletic department where athletes are coming to Christ, being built up in their faith, and using their unique platform as athletes to reach their team, campus, and community with the gospel.

Contact: Holly Bates

We prayerfully and passionately serve the college athletic departments of Houston by initiating authentic relationships with athletes and athletic staff. Empowered by the Holy Spirit we seek to win athletes to faith in Jesus Christ, build them up to be mature disciples of Jesus, and send them out to be disciple makers in their athletic departments and wherever they go. We currently have ministries at Texas Southern University and Rice University.

Ways to Serve:

- Have athlete leaders over for dinner
- Have a discipleship group over for dinner
- provide snacks for weekly discipleship group
- provide connections and ways to network if you know any coaches in the athletic departments at Rice, TSU, UH, or HBU.
- Attend sporting events
- Volunteer with us
- Apply to join as an Intern, part-time or full-time staff with us

How to Pray:

- Pray for us to have favor with coaches and athletic departments around Houston. (Proverbs 3:3-4)
- Pray that as a staff team we would do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with our God. (Micah 6:8)
- Pray that as a people and as a ministry we would humbly seek out authentic relationships with people from diverse backgrounds. (Revelation 7:9)
- Pray that we would see at least one Christ-follower on every team in every athletic department of Houston. (Romans 1:16)
- Pray that equipped disciples multiplying their life for Jesus would be raised up from the athletic departments of Houston. (Matthew 28:18-20)
