What is Missions?

The work of missions is the proclamation of the gospel in Word and deed.
(Mark 16:15, 1 John 3:16-18)

Why do we participate in Missions?

  • The Christian life is most pleasing to God and most joyful for us when we are giving our life away. It is a privilege to bear fruit! (John 15:1-11)
  • Every follower of Christ has receieved the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:18-20)
  • We build life-changing relationships when we serve alongside each other.

What do we Value in Ministry?

Discipleship(Matthew 28:18-20)

  • Relational Evangelism (Romans 10:13-15)
  • Training Others to Walk with Christ (2 Timothy 2:2, Colossians 2:6)

The “Both, And” Mindset

  • Local AND global ministry (Acts 1:8)
  • Action to address material needs (Isaiah 58) AND the proclamation of gospel truth (Acts 4:12)
  • Reaching the "unreached" with the gospel (frontier missions) AND helping existing believers to grow in their fruit (Matthew 24:14, 2 Peter 3:9)

Participation in/with the Local Church (Ephesians 3, Hebrews 13)

Intentional, Relational Ministry (Romans 1:11-12)

What are our Objectives for Short-Term Mission Trips / Service Projects?

When we participate in trips or projects, we seek two outcomes: we desire to have a helpful impact on those we serve and we desire to be transformed in the process. Short-term mission trips and/or short-term service projects should be well conceived, and support long-term objectives. When done well, we believe that short-term opportunities further the Kingdom, and give us a taste of the joy that comes from a life of participating in God's work.
