Small Steps is an accredited early childhood education program in Houston, TX that operates two preschools for economically at-risk children, ages two through six. Small Steps provides a high-quality education, a nurturing Christian environment, transportation, nutritious meals and social and emotional therapy to its students. The program offers a 10 month, full day, high quality educational program at two campuses in the First Ward and Fifth Ward.

Small Steps’ values include: Christian faith, a relationship-driven program, focus on the whole person, high expectations and teamwork.

How to Serve:
- Assist with Parents Education night on Thursdays. This program encourages the whole family of the Small Steps student to come for a night of dinner, bible study for the parents and play time for the kids. Ideally, we have 8-10 volunteers each night so this is a great way to serve with your small group!
- Be a buddy to a Small Steps student, establishing a one-on-one friendship by visiting the campus to play with the student for 30 minutes each week during the school day.
- Partner with a Small Steps Family: Pray for family, send cards on special occasions, contribute to family outings or gift certificates for household use and respond to family needs.
- Accompany Small Steps students on a field trip.
- Christmas: Sponsor a family, wrap gifts, facilitate allocation and distribution of gifts, help host a holiday party.
- Join the Small Steps Auxiliary and help plan various events and activities for students and teachers.
- Assist with facilities projects, which could include painting, landscaping, carpentry, cleaning, or other maintenance tasks.
