The Forge for Families

The Forge for Families is a Christ-centered urban ministry that exists to holistically equip families to fulfill their God given potential.

Contact: David Wynne

The Forge focuses on developing the spiritual, academic, and physical aspects of the family through discipling both children and parents.  The Forge campus is in the Third Ward near downtown, a community that faces stark realities such as:

  • A median income level of less than $12,000 per household
  • 90% of children depending on HISD’s free school breakfast and lunch program
  • Over 60% of children having at least one parent/ guardian incarcerated
  • A mere 32% of all adults possessing high school diplomas
  • An appalling 52% rate of unemployment, underemployment or those unconcerned about employment, aka “blown-employment”

The Forge offers programming and opportunities to serve this community in a variety of ways, including after-school education, coaching basketball teams and other sports, parenting classes, family dinner nights, Bible studies, and summer camps.
