At Agape Development, we are transforming the neighborhood by preparing Christ-following, independent, community leaders.

Agape Development began in 2005 with the vision of serving the OST/South Union community by becoming a part of the everyday life of the neighborhood after the co-founders, Amanda and Kirk Craig, joined the neighborhood in 2002. Over the last two decades, God has continued to provide opportunities for Agape Development to learn from the community and to grow in our capacity to serve our changing neighborhood. 

Agape Development serves in ways that display agape love – sacrificial, authentic, and steadfast – through programs that each play a specific role in overall work of community development. At our after-school program, we work with K-5th grade students to develop community leadership skills and raise reading levels. Through our teen program, we walk with middle and high schoolers in Christian discipleship and vocational guidance. With our adult outreach programs, we support neighbors as they grow in independence through leadership opportunities, job readiness and financial empowerment. Our Women’s Ministry is a community where women can grow in their relationship with Christ, enjoy the fellowship of dear friends, develop their leadership abilities, and use their gifts in service to others. And finally, our affordable housing initiative provides opportunities for community members to pursue independent living through homeownership or affordable rentals. With our beautiful, newly-developed, single-family homes for sale, Agape Homes CDC preserves affordability without concentrating poverty for neighbors in our Homebuyer Program who struggle to afford housing in our gentrifying community. For families and individuals in need of affordable rental housing, Agape Development offers single-family options in addition to our multi-family rental space, The Haven of OST.
