OCTOBER 2025
Ministry Partners
LifeHouse: Christian residential facility providing care, counseling, and support for young women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. Pray that God would bring a strong and mission driven candidate to be the next CEO for Lifehouse. Pray that the completion of construction on the apartment complex would proceed smoothly. Pray for the women currently in the program to feel fully capable of taking care of their babies and supporting them, and that God would prepare the hearts of the women joining the next cohort to believe in God’s love for them.
Young Life: Brings the good news of Jesus Christ into the lives of adolescents, and helps them grow in their faith. Pray for volunteer leaders as they enter schools across Houston and build relationships with students. Pray for students to feel connected and cared for, and to desire a real relationship with Jesus. Pray that God would be glorified across high schools and middle schools in Houston through this ministry.
CRU Albania: Reaches college students in Tirana, Albania, with the gospel, and helps Christians mature in their faith. Pray for the Cru staff to have unity and wisdom as they seek to engage with students as the semester starts. Pray for students already following Jesus to continue to grow in evangelizing and discipling their peers, and for seeds planted throughout the week with students to bear fruit! Lastly, pray for the GBC team going October 18-27 to be unified to serve alongside the Cru staff with joyful hearts!
Agape Development: Bring hope and transformation to Houston’s Third Ward through economic, emotional, and spiritual empowerment. Pray for their upcoming Birthday Bash event on November 1 to be a great celebration with the families they are connected with, and an opportunity to draw more people in the community to the ministry. Prayers for wisdom in the decision-making process as they try to fill several positions on the ministry and housing team. Pray for the teens and young adults this year as they face the challenges of poverty and learn to walk in relationship with Jesus through it.
WITHIN THE CHURCH
Women’s Retreat (Oct. 24-26): Pray that it would be a restful weekend where the women of GBC connect with each other and new women feel welcomed. Prayers for peace over the speakers and that they would communicate God’s Word effectively. Pray that women’s lives would be transformed through the weekend.
Gather Up in the Grove (Oct. 10): Pray that it would be a fun night of fellowship that the congregation is excited for! Pray that those new to GBC would feel welcome, and for great weather.
Elementary Volunteers: Pray for all the elementary volunteers to present the gospel to students on Sunday in a way they can understand and come to know Jesus more. Pray they can appropriately care for and engage with the overflowing number of kids.
AS SCRIPTURE TEACHES US TO PRAY
“Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead” (Ps. 86:11-13).
